I am back from geog field trip! (:
I... well... realised how ignorant I am, especially regading physical geography. Learning outside classrooms is always very different. It really helped me gain another perspective to what I have learnt. The group presentations every night sometimes made me feel very bahhh.. I see how the teachers were so exasperated and impatient when the other groups were presenting, it's just toally demoralising. They have our interests at heart. Then again, don't be so... yeah. I guess my group managed to pull through for both presentations. ((: That's cool. We thought the teachers would definitely neh neh because all we did for the physical geog exploration was sketches of the places we went. We did plan what to say for some and the rest was impromptu with Joyce and Ryan braving the front and a few of us helping to fill in their loopholes and doubts here and there. I still have some questions regarding cave formation. ahhhh... Urban studies (whee!) was pretty successful for my group. The
SENSE of
KOTA TINGGI! I saw this bakery... I was like "why don't we go in.. buy some stuff and interview the workers inside..." So, off we went. The young workers seemed pretty shy. They then referred us to the supervisor... who was very hospitable and warm! He invited us to his cafe on the second floor and started talking to us. He passed us a brochure about kota tinggi, then told us to look it through and called him over if we had any more questions. ((: yup. We prepared some questions and I interviewed the cafe supervisor. I am kinda inspired by him. haha. He doesn't have a superb command of English but u know, from his body language, his attempts to convey the message across to us... we can tell those are all the qualities of someone who work in the service sector should possess. We found that he used to work in the hotel line, travelled around msia.. working in different hotels... and also, the interesting things about Kota Tinggi. haha. I think our group is really lucky. ((: Plus, I am more determined about my future and what I want to do now.
Besides all the geography learning, I think our class geogers are more bonded now in a sense. We played truth or dare.. or rather interrogation for a person (=p) We talked and interacted more... interclique kinda experience? haha. I think that's healthy. I like that feeling and of cos, late night talks with some of them... about the dynamics of our class, about jc life, friendship... yeah. The beach is cool. I love the beach. and the waves too. hee(: of course, we know more geogers now in our cohort... I think grouping with other class peeps is a great experience. You learn from diffferent people. You have to know how to adapt to the different working styles of other people, isn't it? We have to get the mentality right that we are here to learn. The ironic thing is... we weren't really required to spend a lot of time as a group. yes, so I think we should cherish group time. Oh well. We had this 'idol' competition too. heehe. Ryan and deyang! pole dancers! wushu pro-christabel! Mr Chad Goh sabotaged me. darn. It was because on the batu hitam beach (the basaltic rocks!), he asked for my name and then added, "you are the singing one right?"
ACTUALLY, I think he remembered me as the one who took a freaking long time to conquer her fear and did the trust fall during leadership camp. yes, anyway, during this idol thing, he was like.. ."the singing one... there is the choir one.... siying right siying right..." my classmates started shouting my name. so embarrassing. I pulled the other choir ppl along( caroline, sam and jolencia). They refused to stand up at first. hahaha. I suggested singing a song.... four of us. hahaha. Sam thought there isn't any suitable song so the three of us stood there giving our jazz babe moral support (looking stupid at the same time!) while she sang "Stormy Weather". OH YESS. As a sort of 'revenge', I sabotaged Ms Tham to sing too... hahaha. She belted out a jazz piece. wheee! she looked really cute.. got showmanship! hee. ((:
ahhhh! In the midst of the trip, I received a mesage from my laogong! hahaha. It's very sweet of her to customise a personalised blogskin as a gift for my birthday. It's very very sweet. I was like telling my friends, "My junior made me a blogskin!" hahaha. ((: I can't wait to see it! She said she will send me when i got back. heh.
I missed project superstar grand finals. hmpf. Going to catch the second telecast tmr! ((: I love those singing competitions... Ryan and I went bonkers on my way back... We kept singing and singing, breaking into mad laughter while singing... haha. Sherene and Huiqing joined us too. I think we disturbed the other people on the bus. I was really feeling extremely HIGH even though I sounded like shit because of the aching throat(from screaming the prev night!) and blocked nose. It was still exhilarating singing cheena songs, nursery rhymes, oldies, all-tme favourites.... hahaha. ((: and a very fragmented pamugun for the ears of Ryan who was very amused at the ding gan and the ning nong. heehe.
bah bah black sheep.
